How Many Buildings Collapsed on 9/11 in New York?

In sections:

How many buildings collapsed? I am looking for a number. Read the question carefully:

"on 9/11" means only on September 11, 2001, how many buildings collapsed. Other buildings may have been brought down in later days, do not include these in your answer.

"in New York", that means only in New York City, how many buildings collapsed. Other cities may have had buildings collapse on 9/11, do not include these in your answer.

So how many buildings collapsed on September 11, 2001 in New York? I don't know. Well, I thought I knew. I watched the repeated news footage of planes crashing into towers and two buildings collapsing. Easy answer: two. Right?

Depending on who I ask, I get all sorts of answers to this question. What bothers me about this is that the events of 9/11 were some kind of justification to go kill people in Afghanistan, and later for the US military and an equivalent number of private US military contractors to kill people in Iraq.

I feel that in many ways I have been lied to by the media. The media all along has pretty much cow-towed to the official story that terrorists conspired to bring down the two towers in New York on September 11, 2001. The corporate media has pushed the justifications for killing people in Afghanistan and Iraq, even though the justification sometimes change. The justification usually goes back to the events of 9/11 and that there is a war on terror and that killing people in response to this is somehow the way to stop terrorism.

I think that it is well past the time to stop killing people in Afghanistan and Iraq. I am from Canada, and I think that the Canadian government needs to get the Canadian military out of Afghanistan. Like the majority of Canadians, I did not support the Canadian government's so-called mission. I believe that if we Canadians were able to look more into the rationale for the Canadian government's war, we might find criminal intentions.

Involvement of Canada in this conflict was started by Paul Martin and continued by Stephen Harper. I remember Paul Martin repeating what I would call a corporatist mantra on TV before he took over from Jean Chretian. In justification of the events of 9/11, I believe Martin mentioned trying to sustain conflict and war well into this century. Disregarding that George W. Bush was appointed president in 2001 even though Al Gore got more votes and disregarding that a few people from the United States threatened to bomb Afghanistan into oblivion in the Spring of 2001, I have a question: How many buildings collapsed on September 11, 2001, in New York?
