Story Moderation: How and Why
When a news story is posted to Mostly Water, it goes into a moderation queue. Members of the Editorial Collective select a mix of "Canadian" and international articles to put on the front page. Other stories are approved and displayed in their respective sections.
We do not subscribe to the open publishing model. We try to keep the volume of stories that we publish on the front page to a reasonable level in order to maintain a high quality news feed. Not all news stories will be published but we have rarely rejected submissions to date.
The site is updated just about every day but it may take us a day or two to get around to publishing your story. If you don't see your story on the front page after a couple of days, check the section or topic you posted it to. If you signed in before posting it, you can go to the user search page and look for your account name. Stories posted by you appear in your profile.
Priority on the front page is given to stories meeting the following criteria:
- Accessibly written
- "Canadian" content
- Stories with an anti-capitalist, anti-authoritarian perspective
- Original content
